IT WAS ALWAYS
THE MUSIC.

I'm Matt Nye. Hollywood, Florida. I've been making music since I was 13. I took the writing and recording seriously as fuck. Mixing, mastering, letting anybody outside my friends hear it? Not so much.

I moved to LA in 2013 to act. By 2020, it looked like everything was finally happening. Then the pandemic hit, and one by one, the jobs disappeared. I was broke, losing people, and depressed. My friend Turtle told me what I needed to hear: it had always been the music. It was time to focus on it.

I'll Be Fine was supposed to be an album of my best old songs. I'd go into the studio to record a couple, then make something new while I was there. By the end, I had around 30 new songs—and, fuck, they were better. Only “Crazy” and a reworked “Bruce Banner” survived from that original pile.

That record came out of a really dark place. Then you guys heard it, and you loved it. That changed my life. Six years later, my life is the music. Like it always was.
